Quick Observation
Toured in the Middle Fork corridor today and enjoyed sunny skies, light winds, and a mostly stable conditions.
Snow surfaces were quite variable today but overall shady, northerly slopes were still holding nice soft snow consisting mostly of facets on the surface. However some N-NE aspects were scoured down to some wind-hardened surface, or the near-surface snow was at least slightly wind-stiffened.
We generally avoided sunny aspects that were often crusty or consisted of heavier moist or wet snow by the PM hours,
We were able to get eyes on a lot of terrain and observed no new avalanche activity today. We saw several older D1-1.5 wet loose that had run earlier this week on steep, sun-exposed slopes. No recent cornice falls observed either.
Wind slabs were unreactive to ski cuts and we encountered no other signs of instability save for some very minor sluffing while skiing steep slopes in the shade.
