Just a heads up to FAC and public using the Noisy Snotel, on Sunday afternoon there were 2 snowmobile tracks in the snow study plot, one of them directly under the arm of the HS guage. The track was only a few inches deep due to the supportable denser storm snow, but the guage will probably read a bit low, especially if it gets repeatedly abused. Disappointing to see, especially with explicit signage posted.
We observed widespread cornice failure on the E side of the Noisy ridge at 6400', but did not observe any wind slabs triggered below it. Perhaps small crowns were buried mid-storm or perhaps those 30-60 mph winds recorded at Aeneas on Saturday afternoon overloaded the cornices and sublimated the snow right away. Apologies for the tardy observation, but it seemed others were seeing similar results in the Swan nearby.
