Quick Observation

Rain at TH that turned to frozen precip around 4,500. Had several big, audible collapses on the skin track that put us on edge. Winds were ripping on ridges and transport on the Apgars was impressive. Saw two natural crowns in the same drainage (ESE aspect at ~6,200') that were likely a result of wind loading (see photos). These crowns were relatively small but must have stepped down or entrained a lot of snow as the debris pile went full length (1,200 vert) and crossed the road. Size estimated D2. Did not dig a pit as we never traveled through avalanche terrain. The skiing was slow but surfy.
