returned to our same zone as yesterday. found wet 4" of new at trail head but by 6000' the snow was no longer moist and had a variety of wind effect that was not present the day before. this wind effect was most present on all NW, west and SW aspects. once dropping over the swan crest and skiing east and SE aspect the wind effect was minimal. however, wind transport was noticable at low passes along the crest, at ridge tops on the crest and towards the reservoir. dug another pit to compare to yesterday, this time around 6500' east aspect, hs 145 cm. ectp 4 at 30 cm with a high quality shear. this seemed suspect as we had no signs of stability all day. second test in this pit showed ectp 12 with poor quality. either showing my rustiness at digging pits or spatial variablity of results?
