Today took the sled out to Red Meadow Pass and walked the splitboard around for a few hours.
-Temps were not as cold as expected. A balmy -14C near the pass. Warmer than the Olney trailhead...
-Actually got some partly cloudy skies, no avalanches observed on Styker Ridge or Link Mtn.
-Signs of snow transport in the last 48 hours even in treed areas. (See photo)
-28 cm of new snow over the last 48 hours made for some nice turns. Ski cuts produced minimal sluffing on new/old snow interface.
-Pit location at 6500' on WNW aspect revealed 187 cm HS, CT14@24 cm TD 120 cm. Failed on layer of faceted and rounded snow grains.
