Quick Observation
Good touring, turns and getting better.
Found good snow condidtions on south, east and north aspects.
Good turns from the 7200' down to the vally bottoms.
We found 4-5" of new snow overlaying the previous weeks rounds of small storms.
There was no evidence of Tuesdays strong winds as reported elsewhere in the Middle Fork. Winds were light throughout the day.
Skies were overcast all day.
In several hasty pits, there is an average of 22" on top of the 2/1 rain crust. In some areas the crust is starting to deteriorate and others it is still well intact.
The 2/5 frezzing rain crust is on average, buried about 14".
The top 22" was well bonded to the 2/1 ice crust, however we were finding clean planar shears right below (facets) the 2/5 freezing rain crust (1/16"). Took a bit to get these to reveal themselves in several hasty pits.
The old Paola Road is getting pretty grown over.
Thanks to who ever flagged the exit down the north side of the creek to the tracks.
