Curious about how the Twelve Days Of Crust-mas had left the southern Whitefish Range, we sallied forth from WMR. Our initial findings proved that Crust-mas wasn't over, as the omnipresent murk was gifting us with just a kiss of a zipper crust atop the new accumulations. Sheltered east aspects within Canyon Creek were sloughing some, but we witnessed no slab activity or red flags there. Ditto to the West and SW aspects we ascended and skied later--not a peep or a creep from the snowpack on the low angle fun we found.
Weather was mostly socked in, with increasing winds as the day wore on (moderate to strong), especially at upper elevations. Periods of S1 precip were intermittent then steadier in early afternoon. Temps were below freezing.
