Skiing with Rangers

We chose a low-risk route to enjoy Middle Fork powder.

• The recent low-density snow was moistened by rising temperatures up to our high point of 5700'. Fortunately, the sun made only brief appearances which helped to maintain snow quality. 
• Numerous small wet loose slides and rollerballs with a handful of D1.5 and D2 wet loose slides on sunny aspects below 6000'.
• One large Persistent Slab avalanche from earlier in the week noted on a NE aspect at 6400'.
• Our pit at 5700' revealed 2 moderate failures in the top 2 feet in small column tests. No propagation occurred in our ECT.
