Skin in the morning, skin in the afternoon

Visited the Flathead Range to continue the hunt for dry snow and prep for upcoming tanning competitions.

• Periods of strong solar input and warm temperatures moistened the dry snow on most low and some mid-elevation northerlies. Rollerballs and small wet loose slides were observed in areas that did not slide earlier in the week or last weekend. A thin (<1") crust formed on the surface of moistened mid-elevation northerly slopes by day's end.
• No rollerballs, wet loose or other recent avalanches observed on southerly aspects.
• Recent SW winds affected mid-elevation exposed northerly slopes. Cracking underfoot was noted but no shooting cracks observed.
• Skiing remains good on shaded aspects despite the moistening snow and wind effect.
