We headed out to Canyon Cr looking for some soft snow. 8-10cm of new snow fell during the day, landing on a variety of surfaces. Winds were light, and snowfall didn't exceed S2 at any point. Upper elevation on the west side of the canyon saw stiff pow under the new snow, and crust (likely from temperature) the day before appearing 500ft above the canyon floor. No signs of instability while skiing or ski cutting.
Up on Skook, the cornices have grown. All less sheltered W aspects have a crust, and anywhere near the top that was open has a wind slab. We dropped off the E side into Fondue Basin and saw some surface sloughing, but no reactivity while skiing or while skinning back out.
Overcast skies all day, light to no wind, temps below freezing.
