Quick Observation

Toured off of Skookoleel Ridge for some turns in the sunshine

-Light winds were all we found in shelter areas. It appeared all available snow that was going to move had already been transported in the area.

-SSW winds have created firm slabs on various aspects. Cornices were found on NNE aspects. Dr. B was able to drop one after significant effort along the ridgeline. (see photo)

-Snow pit at 6699' results: Aspect 280 degrees. HS 183 cm. CT 30 @ 39 cm; TD 120 cm. Small rounded facets (<1mm) found at propagation (see photo). 2 P hardness layers found, but unreactive.

-Hoar frost found above 6400' on SE, S, and SW aspects. Hoary marmot not found in hoar cave. Probably out enjoying the sunshine...
