Weather: mostly sunny, 20-28 F, light west winds with small gusts, no blowing snow, no precip.
Snowpack: Surface hoar present overnight on snow surface; likely remaining in shaded areas. Recent 2" new snow on top of near surface facets on top of snowpack. Snowpack shows layering of slab over crusts, BSH, and other facet layers but was not very reactive. However, did have propogation in a hard to trigger ECT. See profile. Another ski party that went to ridge mentioned similar snowpack and test results.
Avalanche Activity: none observed
Ascended Stonewall Creek road to trailhead (outside of Lincoln, MT) to the bench below Main Bowl. Dug snowpits at 6300' on lookers left ridge in open trees on SE and E aspects. Skied down from there. Trail route has ~3 small open creek crossings, but are easy to navigate. Snow depth increases as gain elevation, but lower area along creek and in trees is still a little shallow. Watch for "snow snakes"!
Ski conditions varied, some melting of southern aspects refroze later in day. Variable crusty skiing on south faces, good dense powder turns up high and in shaded areas.
