Storm skiing and riding in Noisy and Jewel Basins today. Approximately 16 inches of new snow above last week's (Dec. 6/7) crust. Consistent snowfall throughout the day. Found 3 inches of snow on the sleds at Camp Misery when we returned after 3 hours of skiing (that's convenient). We experienced only localized cracking around our skis on short, steep rollovers. By the afternoon, more new snow and a bit of wind made cracking a bit more frequent. We observed one smal (D1) soft slab avalanche just below "The Notch" on the Noisy Basin (west) side (debris in image - visibility poor for image of crown). Overall, we enjoyed great skiing and riding, and kept terrain choices appropriate for the day's hazard by avoiding steep, open, convex terrain. We limited our terrain choices to slope angles mostly below 35 degrees save for short, steep sections with good visibility of each other.
