Today, we went forth (and forth and forth and forth) in search of Uncrustables. The goal was to get north, north facing, and as high as reasonable in our terrain selection while still keeping angles mellow. Hornet proved to be a pretty good call: the drive up the Whale Creek road to the Hornet Rd junction was just fine in an Outback, which was a good thing since we don't own sleds. Conditions wise, the weather was stable, with little wind all day and temperatures staying below freezing. No precip to speak of. The Uncrustables were found above 5800ft on N aspects; we found Captain Crunch on anything lower and more east facing.
If you'd like a closer view of the conditions, or to double check what I just said, we confirmed that the Hornet weather station is, in fact, still there.
We saw some evidence of recent loose wet activity on steeper, SE aspects on a peak across the way.
