Clear and fairly warm today in Middle Fork corridor. Winds were light with moderate gusts at higher elevations, increasing throughout the day.
We saw evidence of wet loose avalanches that ran on 3/16 on S and SE aspects in Rescue Creek drainage. Attached photo of largest debris pile.
We did not see avalanche activity today, but things probably picked up after we left (1400). At higher elevations on true southern aspects, we were able to trigger isolated wet slides on very steep terrain (i.e. the sides of wind lips). Roller ball activity was minimal.
Found dry loose snow on N and NE aspects. At mid elevations, the loose snow was poorly bonded to a sun/melt crust 3-6 inches down. We did not find any evidence of storm slabs. There was small (~2 mm) surface hoar on sheltered northern aspects. Hand pits did not reveal any buried surface hoar.
