Spent three days exploring the Blacktail Hills in GNP. All three days were very windy especially today and yesterday. A ridge line gust actually knocked my friend to the ground on Saturday and today the wind blew my hood back twice. I'm estimating greater than 40 mph. There were plumes off the peaks and ridges we could see including Elk Mt and the Little Dog to Elk ridgeline. Newly formed cornices collapsed readily and we heard and felt settling on ridgelines and flat terrain above 5,400 ft. Snowfall was light to moderate and nearly continuous. Suprisingly, there was very little wind in the older forest on the lower Autumn Cr trail. On the drive home there was steady snow fall until West Glacier and there it turned to rain.
