Toured through rocks, boosh, crust, light snow on crust, and wind hammered snow to 6600' on Mount Stanton's south ridge. The approach down low was fast due to being able to bootpack on dirt and firm snow/crust. Mid elevations transitioned into having a lot of wind effected snow scoured to the crust and wind slabs on leeward terrain ranging from 2-10 inches thick. Shooting cracks occured in the isolated terrain where wind slabs were present. Due to slow travel up high and the chance for larger wind slabs further up we decided to enjoy the views and bail. The ski out was slow and difficult with the wind effect.
