2 degrees when we left Essex; 32 degrees when we returned to car in afternoon. A slight breeze at higher elevations so we weren't just in shirtsleeves. Skinned to Marion Ridge above lake via trail, then skied back down southerly slopes (southeasterly seemed to have less sun crust). Opted not to drop into Dickey Cr to exit after reading yesterday's windslab releases/triggers. Some tree bombs, roller balls by afternoon. Otherwise no signs of instability skinning, skiing, or on adjacent ridges. Viewed cornices on Essex Mtn length of ridgeline. Had to work a bit at turns, but found skiable, springlike conditions. Encountered some inconsistent sun crust a few inches below surface snow, but no cracks or propogation.
