Late on this observation but thought I'd share what we found NE of Red Meadow on Friday. 4-6" of fresh at 5000 ft on a super saturated snowpack. By the time we reached our high point at 6000 ft there was 8-10 inches of fresh on a saturated snow layer that was about a foot deep. Winter snow below that. We saw no cracking or slab movement while sidehilling our sleds, although we stayed off of any bigger slopes. Visibility above 6500 ft was obscured, but we caught a glimpse of a fat crown line on a steep north slope and saw large pinwheel debris just above 6000 ft. (See photos) My guess is that there was a tremendous amount of new snow above 6500 ft.
