Toured up to 6800' in southern GNP with the plan to stay on slopes around 30 degrees or less with the considerable hazard. The largest red flag of the day was a whoomphing collapse on our ski out at mid elevation on an east facing ridge. Before this we dug a pit on a SE aspect at 6800' with an ECTX result. The sun was out and hot with rapid warming of the snow surface as the day progressed. Once the surface was getting too warm we decided to ski the ridge out instead of a large east facing slope where the persistent slab was found. The whoomphing collapse on the ridge confirmed our decision to keep it mellow today.
