As You Like It

Toured up Marion Lake in the Great Bear Wildenerness, went up the SE ridge, and discended into the South Fork of Dickey Creek. 

• By 11:30am, the first 6-8inches of sun exposed snow was getting moist. There was about an inch of graupel under the moisting snow.  
• As the day progressed we did not see any large roller balls or loose wet slides on the SE facing slopes in the Marion Lake drainage. We did, however, see a small wet loose slide that released under a few cliffs on a SE facing slope in the South Fork of Dickey Creek drainage; it was a D1. 
• NW aspects skied great with a foot and a half of soft, cold snow. We dug a snow pit around 6,700' on a NW facing slope. The extended colum test resulted in an ectx. 
• When skiing down the NW and SE facing aspects we saw few windslabs and did not feel any underfoot.
