Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Dug a pit on the broad SW facing ridge just below the sub shields summit at 6500. Bullet proof, hard pan, boiler plate surface snow was hard enough to support a person off their skis. 130cm total snow depth. CT 12 at 50 cm deep on the Jan 19 crust. CT 25 on depth hoar/facets at the ground. ECTP 11 on the surface rain crust. ECTP 20 at 50 cm deep on the Jan 19 rain crust. Surface crust was pencil hard and 2-3" thick. Storm snow was 50 cm deep and was 2 finger hard throughout. Wind was actively transporting snow on typical aspects from 1-2" of graupel like fresh snow overnight. Skiing was surprisingly manageable because crust was reasonably supportable back down to the RR tracks.
