With Considerable-rated rain crust, it seemed entirely more fun to dig some holes and practice with our beacons out on Ghoulie. We dug two pits. East aspect (86 degrees), 12:00, 30 degree angle, 6700ft100cm total depth.  CT12 Q3 under the recent rain crust, CT19 Q3 at 40cm down below old storm snow. ECTP15 and ECTN22 on the same layers. North aspect (23 degrees), 13:30, 36 degree angle, 6680ftCT1 Q2 on the old storm/rain crust interface 10cm down. CT13 Q2 on the older crust/old storm. ECTP1 Q2 below the recent rain crust. 24.3F in the crust, 28F in the old storm snow beneath.

Plenty of shooting cracks in the rain crust, which is noticeably more solid on the N aspect, whereas it's more of a sandwich of two crusts and a little intervening snow on the E. Both seem plenty slippery for the new snow that hammered down while we were out there (it began about 11:00, and there was perhaps 10cm by the time we left our second pit at 14:00). S3 ish, maybe greater.
