Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

We dug a quick pit just below the north ridge leading to the sub shields high point. Snow pack was thin on this northwest face: <1 meter deep. Well formed facets were found at ground level. Two distinct rain crusts remain very solid near the bottom with a wind slab (and a few cm of new snow) sitting on top. Isolated columns failed at CT 10 on the ground level facets. There was much evidence of the recent easterly wind direction shift with the windslab present on this aspect as well as cornice formation on both sides of the ridge. We skied the east aspect and found plenty of fresh, light Montana cold smoke to make for an amazing day!!
